traditionally shaded horse.

well, this is the first drawing for my set of illustrations that are going up for sale at the local tack shop, i think. that's why i uploaded this, i wanted everyone's opinion on this, should i frame it and sell it? i want your honest opinion, is it good enough to sell, or do i need to improve? overall, the decision is up to me on whether or not i bring it into the shop, and the shop owner, who has the final say on whether or not she will put it up for sale, but i would like more opinions as well.
oh, and please keep in mind that my scanner basically butchered it.
and i also would love some ideas on what to do in the background. i was thinking gradient swirls?
